Other Announcements

NEW FLOWER CALENDAR - please select a date on the new flower calendar posted on the bulletin board for 2021, for a special occasion, or just to honor your Lord.  Mark your tithe envelope flowers ($35).

COVID 19 - Just a reminder:  the virus is still out there and now with a new variant.  We want to encourage everyone, even those who have been vaccinated, to stay healthy.  Masks are not required at this time, but we want you to be safe.  If you feel sick or been exposed to someone who has tested positive, stay home.  We want to continue keeping our church open and available for everyone to attend.

OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY - The funeral for Joan Bromme, wife of Dr. Bill Bromme, is today at 4 p.m. in North Carolina.  It will be livestreamed through Groce Funeral Home’s Facebook.  Let’s remember them in our prayers.  Joan Bromme is Shayne Remmer’s mother.

MD MEN OF FAITH - will meet next week, Oct. 2, at Mt. Aetna Retreat Center.  The theme this year is NO FEAR.  “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  For more information please contact Spalatin Oire.

LADIES LUNCHEON - this month will be Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m.  We will meet at Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant, 29 N. Burhans Blvd. (right across from the police station).  All ladies are welcome to join us.

HELP RESETTLE AFGHAN FAMILIES - We have an opportunity to help set up a new home for one of the many Afghan families resettling in the DC metro area.  The family will need everything from furniture to cleaning supplies.  Ways you can help include:  donate new or like-new items from the list in the bulletin, purchase items off the Amazon Gift Registry (search Hagerstown SDA Church Outreach under Custom Gift List), provide a vehicle to transport donations to the home, or give a monetary donation by marking Afghan resettlement fund on your tithe envelope.

Thank you for your helping to give this family a new start.  For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Rebecca Mahrle.

INDEBTED TO GOD

We are all born into this world owing so much.  Our debts throughout a lifetime pile up faster than we can pay them off.

What do you owe your parents?

What do you owe your country?

What do you owe your church?

Acknowledging your debts brings a strange joy because you can begin really accepting the fact that you are loved.

As you give of yourself, Christianity is a proclamation of your indebtedness and God’s grace.
