Service Opportunities

FOOD DRIVE—Please remember our food drive for ACTS 9.  There is a food basket located in the foyer for nonperishable food donations to benefit the center, or you may give a monetary donation through the tithe envelope. 


Prayer and Praise

PRAYER REQUESTS—may be placed in the prayer box in the      foyer.  These requests will be prayed for on Wednesday by the church staff.


Other Announcements

NEW FLOWER CALENDAR—please select a date on the new flower calendar posted on the bulletin board for 2018, for a special occasion, or just to honor your Lord.  Mark your tithe envelope flowers ($35).

FUTSAL TOURNAMENT—All 6th graders and older are invited to the senior class Futsal Tournament/Lock-in on Saturday, January 13, at Highland View Academy.  RSVP so register in advance at

FELLOWSHIP DINNER—next Sabbath.  Menu:  general potluck

HVA MISSION SERVICE—this year at HVA we are implementing a      week of service to demonstrate to our students not only that we are the hands and feet of Jesus but also to help them witness first-hand how blessed each of us are.  We have 3 different types of service/      mission projects.  Some will be going to Kenya, some to Houston, TX, and some doing local service.  Donations given to these trips are tax-deductible.  If a student comes to you asking for help, please consider donating to them.

STEM PROGRAMS—Highland View Academy is organizing a STEM after-school program for children ages 8-11.  It will be held every second Monday of the month at 4-5 p.m. starting on January 8, at HVA.  There will also be a lecture series for students, teachers and community from 7-8 at the school library on the same nights.  Please email Ophelia Barizo, at to reserve a spot.

SABBATH SUNDOWN SERENADE—on January 20, at 5 p.m. will feature the piano and organ talents of our gifted musicians, Angela Choi and Jermaine Cain.  Come and let your heart be lifted with their collection of sacred praise.  Your personal attendance and support mean a great deal to all of our musical guests.


What:  Calling all twenty-somethings/Young Adults to a Pupusa night (google it—its delicious). 

Why:  Get to know one another with good food, Bible study, games and brainstorming session.

UYO Meeting (Western Maryland Youth)

WHAT:  Any youth leader who wants to be involved with western area youth to come together for pizza, games, and planning session.
