Service Opportunities

FOOD DRIVE—Please remember our food drive for ACTS 9.  There is a food basket located in the foyer for nonperishable food donations to benefit the center, or you may give a monetary donation through the tithe envelope. 

 

Prayer and Praise

PRAYER REQUESTS—may be placed in the prayer box in the      foyer.  These requests will be prayed for on Wednesday by the church staff.

 

Other Announcements

NEW FLOWER CALENDAR—please select a date on the new flower calendar posted on the bulletin board for 2018, for a special occasion, or just to honor your Lord.  Mark your tithe envelope flowers ($35).

ALTAR FLOWERS—the flowers today are given in honor of Beverly Grenci’s birthday.

MT. AETNA RETREAT CENTER—is hosting a Scrapbooking, Card Making and Spiritual Retreat on January 5-7. Enjoy a time of spiritual communion and fellowship while you work on a project. For more information and reservations call (301) 824- 6045, or email

FUTSAL TOURNAMENT—All 6th graders and older are invited to the senior class Futsal Tournament/Lock-in on Saturday, January 13, at Highland View Academy.  RSVP so register in advance at   

HVA MISSION SERVICE—this year at HVA we are implementing a      week of service to demonstrate to our students not only that we are the hands and feet of Jesus but also to help them witness first-hand how blessed each of us are.  We have 3 different types of service/ mission projects.  Some will be going to Kenya, some to Houston, TX, and some doing local service.  Donations given to these trips are tax-deductible.  If a student comes to you asking for help, please consider donating to them.

STEM PROGRAMS—Highland View Academy is organizing a STEM after-school program for children ages 8-11.  It will be held every second Monday of the month at 4-5 p.m. starting on January 8, at HVA.  There will also be a lecture series for students, teachers and community from 7-8 at the school library on the same nights.  Please email Ophelia Barizo, at to reserve a spot.

10 DAYS OF PRAYER—The Chesapeake Conference will be participating in the General Conference call to 10 days of prayer to recommit ourselves to God at the beginning of this new year.  Our local church will be joining them beginning on Wednesday, January 10, at 7 p.m.  More information will be given on January 6. 

CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE—please join with Dioni & Jeanri in collecting small toys for the children in Puerto Rico.  There is a box in the foyer to put your toys in.  Whatever you can do will be appreciated.  Thank you for your support.
